Ravichandran Ashwin has registered his name in the history of Indian cricket today on March 7, as he has become the 14th Indian player to play 100 Test matches. He achieved this feat during the ongoing fifth and final Test against England at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala.

Meanwhile, Ricky Ponting praised the extraordinary talent of R Ashwin. Furthermore, the former Australian legend recalled his coaching stint with Ashwin at Delhi Capitals (DC), describing the Indian off-spinner as a spin master.

Ricky Ponting said in the ICC review, “He is a master of spin in all conditions. He has been an incredible cricketer, and there is no doubt about that. I got a chance to work with him for a few years with Delhi Capitals and I enjoyed working with him. He has a lot of theories and philosophies on the game, which I really like. He has always done things a little differently and done things his own way.”

‘His development as a bowler has always continued’

Ricky Ponting further said, “But his development as a bowler has always continued. When I was training him, one thing I loved about him was that he thought about his achievements at the end. He might be working on doing something different, like a slight change in his action or a change in grip or a different delivery. He’s never been one of those guys who’s just looking for ways to get better.”
