India won the fourth test match by 5 wickets.
The fourth Test match of the five-match Test series between India and England (IND vs ENG) took place in Ranchi. Let us tell you that on the fourth day of this match, India has defeated England by 5 wickets. So with this victory, India has also taken an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match Test series.
Also, let us tell you that young batsman Shubman Gill and wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel played important roles in India winning this match. Both of them took the team out of the stressful situation of the match and also made an unbroken partnership of 72 runs for the sixth wicket.
Gill remained unbeaten on 52* and Jurrell remained unbeaten on 39* in the match. Apart from this, he also played an inning of 90 runs in the first innings of this match. So for this brilliant performance he was awarded the Player of the Match award. Let us know who said what after the end of the match-
Player of the match Dhruv Jurel said
I play as per the demand of the situation. Even in the first innings we needed to score runs, we knew we had to bat last and so any runs would be important. I was involved in a few partnerships, so credit to everyone who stayed and added runs. I just saw the ball and then reacted to it, not thinking too far ahead. The conversation was good (with Shubman Gill in the second innings), we broke it into 10-run sets and started developing partnerships.

I think it was a great test match. If you look at the scoreboard, it will say India won by 5 wickets, but the way things unfolded, there were ups and downs every day, it was not given credit for that. I can only be proud of our team, we have some inexperienced spinners (Bashir and Hartley) but I am proud of their efforts, they came here without a lot of experience and the way they bowled, I can’t . Part of my captaincy is to give the youngsters the freedom to enjoy and play in some difficult and intimidating conditions in India.
I’m a big fan of Test cricket, the amount of youth coming into both teams creates good conditions for the future of Test cricket. If you look at yesterday, anything was possible, it was incredibly difficult to bat against the spinners (Ashwin, Jadeja and Kuldeep), it became difficult to score runs and it became difficult to rotate the strike.
We knew the pitch would not get better than what we saw today. I don’t think criticism of Joe Root is fair, he has played a lot of cricket and has scored 12,000 Test runs. He is incredible, so is Bashir, what a story, what a journey, taking 8 wickets with 5 wickets against India after playing very little cricket is fantastic. You want to win series, you want to play and win cricket matches. I have been here for a few years (as captain) and my message is simple. All I can say is that we did not leave anything on the field, we fought hard and I am happy with that.
Winning team captain Rohit Sharma said
There is no doubt that this has been a very hard-fought series and it feels really good to be on the right side of it at the end of four Test matches. Everyone in the dressing room is really proud. We had a lot of challenges but I thought we responded very well. We had different challenges in different Test matches and I think we were very calm, very happy with what we wanted to achieve and what we wanted to do on the field. Tells me clearly that they (the youngsters) want to be here, the hard work they have done in the past, playing domestic cricket and performing there, it is a big challenge to come here but when I see them, talk to them And the responses I get from them are quite encouraging.
My job and Rahul bhai’s job is to give them the environment in which they want to live and they are not too concerned about going there and getting the job done, they want to get the job done but there is no point in talking about it. . This or reminding them about it because they are very clear about what they want to do. Jurel, playing his second Test, showed solid composure and calmness and also has the shots to play around the wicket. His 90 in the first innings was very important for us to get close to England’s score and he showed a lot of maturity and composure along with Gill in the second innings. It doesn’t feel good when you miss your key players, but as a group you can’t do anything. They (Kohli and company) are proven players in every situation and it was not easy for them to replace them.
The pressure was not from within but from outside but I think he responded to all the circumstances very well. When you make that kind of impression, it stands you in good stead for a long career. Such performances will motivate them and ensure that they are ready for the opportunity whenever it comes. We want to win every Test, no matter what has happened in the past. Obviously it has been a great series but we want to make sure that we come for that (Dharamshala Test) match and give our best performance. Some of these guys were not used to playing 5-match series, but they showed great calmness and composure. I am confident that we will continue the same performance as in the last three Test matches.
