England’s great fast bowler James Anderson became the third bowler to take 700 wickets in Test cricket by dismissing Kuldeep Yadav on the third day of the fifth Test between India and England in Dharamsala. With this, Anderson has become the first fast bowler in the world to touch the figure of 700 wickets in Test cricket.

Before Anderson, veteran bowlers of Sri Lanka and Australia, Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne have done wonders in Test cricket. Anderson achieved this feat in 348 innings of 187 matches. Anderson also holds the world record for bowling the most number of balls as a fast bowler in Test cricket. He has bowled approximately 40 thousand balls in his 21 year long Test career.

Anderson, who is currently playing his 400th international match, took his 699th wicket on the second day when he dismissed set batsman Shubman Gill. After that he achieved this historic feat by dismissing Kuldeep Yadav on the third day of the test match.

Let us tell you that, James Anderson is the oldest player to take 700 wickets in Test cricket. The English fast bowler achieved this feat at the age of 41 years and 223 days, whereas before him Shane Warne had held the record of taking 700 wickets at the age of 37 years and 104 days, whereas when Muralitharan had completed 700 wickets, his Age was 35 years 88 days.

When this Test series between India and England started, Anderson had 690 wickets in this format. He did not get a chance to play in the Hyderabad Test, England entered that match with the only fast bowler Mark Wood. The English team had made a great start to the series by winning that match. Since that match, Anderson has played all 4 matches.
