Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has praised the batting of Sarfaraz Khan and Yashasvi Jaiswal in the recently concluded third Test against England in Rajkot. Both these batsmen played a big role in helping Team India register its biggest ever Test win in terms of runs (434) and take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.
While Jaiswal put India in a strong position by scoring his second double century of the series, Sarfaraz made the most of his long-awaited debut by scoring brilliant half-centuries in both the innings. Sarfaraz had to wait for a long time before making a place in Team India. The right-handed batsman has scored runs consistently in domestic cricket, but still did not get a chance.
Sourav Ganguly gave a big statement in praise of Sarfaraz Khan
Meanwhile, former cricketer and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has given a big statement regarding Sarfaraz Khan. During a conversation with Mid Day, Sourav Ganguly said, “Jaiswal is not only a good player, he is capable of playing in all formats of the game. Sarfaraz has made a good start. Now he has to score runs abroad. Sarfaraz is a good example for budding cricketers who need to keep in mind that if they score consistently, they will get opportunities.”
When Ravichandran Ashwin withdrew from the Test at the end of the second day, Team India’s troubles certainly increased to their peak. The off-spinner left for Chennai after his mother fell ill, but returned on the fourth day and helped India finish the match.
Ganguly said, “India is so confident that they allowed R Ashwin to return home in the middle of the Test. India look very motivated in this series.” Team India is currently leading 2-1 in this series and now the fourth test match of the series will be played in Ranchi.
