Shubman Gill came into the series with poor form. The right-handed batsman had not scored a single century while batting at number three since the 2023 tour of West Indies. Shubman was failing with the bat even in the first innings of the opening Test match in Hyderabad. After that, to save his place in the Test team, the batsman scored a brilliant century in Vizag and then played an inning of 91 runs in Rajkot.

Shubman might have completed his century in Rajkot also, but was run out in the second innings of the match. The batsman played an important role in the fourth Test match in Ranchi and remained unbeaten on 52 runs in the last innings of the match on a difficult pitch and contributed significantly to the team’s position.

Before the fifth Test match, Shubman Gill was seen honing his batting skills with his father. India defeated England by 5 wickets in the fourth test match thanks to the strong partnership of Dhruv Jurel and Shubman Gill. With that win, India has taken a 3-1 lead in the Test series.
