Speaking on Star Sports ahead of the first Test match in Hyderabad, Irfan Pathan said that Virat Kohli looked at his best in the South Africa Test series. Kohli returned to the Test format and performed well on the difficult pitches of South Africa. Kohli struggled alone for India in the second innings of the first Test match, but he did not have a partner. India lost that Test match, but made a strong comeback in the second and final match to win and end the series on a draw.
Irfan Pathan gave a big statement regarding Virat Kohli
Irfan Pathan on Star Sports said, “Virat Kohli is back to his best, this is good news for Indian cricket and Virat Kohli fans. He was exceptional in South Africa and had fantastic foot movement. “He is showing aggressive signs with his footwork and that could help him score runs in the Test series against England.”
Kohli will be eyeing to complete 9000 Test runs in the series. To reach this record the batsman needs more than 150 runs. Kohli will be only the fourth Test batsman for India to reach 9,000 Test runs. Before him, Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid have achieved this feat. Kohli is also close to his 30th Test century and needs just one more century to achieve the feat.
India’s senior batsman Virat will try to score runs in all formats before the T20 World Cup to be held in June. Many fans believe that this could be Kohli’s last ICC tournament in the T20 format.
