In the first Test match played between Team India and New Zealand, the host had to face defeat. The players of Team India had failed to show good performance and that is why New Zealand won this match. After the end of the match, former player Manoj Tiwari has questioned the decisions of captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir.

According to him, Team India did not take important decisions in the first test and that is why they had to face defeat. Manoj Tiwari told Cricbuzz, ‘Sometimes I cannot understand the decisions. There seems to be a lack of common sense. It is beyond my understanding what the coach and the captain are trying to prove. I think whenever a new coach or captain comes, he tries to prove something and takes such decisions.

I don’t understand why Team India did not use Ravichandran Ashwin properly: Manoj Tiwari

Former player Manoj Tiwari has also raised questions as to why experienced spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who has taken more than 500 Test wickets, was not given the bowling during New Zealand’s second innings. Let us tell you that New Zealand needed 107 runs to win the first test. Ravichandran Ashwin came to bowl when New Zealand had scored 97 runs losing two wickets and the experienced player bowled only two overs in the second innings.

Manoj Tiwari further said, ‘I knew that some spinner would get less overs but I did not think that it would be Ashwin. Ravichandran Ashwin has taken more than 500 Test wickets and when you are defending 107 runs, you need an aggressive bowler along with Jasprit Bumrah. Even good captains make mistakes because there is too much going on in your mind. There is a lot of need for a coach here but I don’t know why the mistake was made here that Ashwin was not given bowling.

Another thing which was surprising was that Akash Deep was not included in the playing XI. Even good captains make mistakes because they have a lot going on in their mind. At present, Team India will have to make a strong comeback in the second test and both the coach and the captain will have to take many important decisions.
