IND vs NZ First Test Report: The first match of the three-match Test series between India and New Zealand was played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. In this match, New Zealand created history by defeating Team India by 8 wickets. With this victory, the Kiwi team has taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The play on the fifth day of the match started late due to rain but after that the weather got favor with the team. In the end he achieved the target easily.
In this match, Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first, which proved to be completely wrong. Batting first, India was out after scoring only 46 runs, in response New Zealand scored 402 and took a lead of 356 runs. India had given an easy target to New Zealand by scoring 462 runs in the second innings with the help of Sarfaraz Khan’s (150) first Test century and Rishabh Pant’s 99 runs.
Play was ended early on the fourth day of the match due to bad light. Play started late on the fifth day also. On the very second ball of the day, Jasprit Bumrah gave a big success to India by dismissing Kiwi team captain Tom Latham LBW. However, Conway and Will Young got their team out of this problem.
The Indian bowlers troubled both the batsmen a lot but later the Kiwi batsmen were seen scoring runs easily. Due to the partnership of just 35 runs between these two, New Zealand came back into the match. Bumrah raised India’s hopes by dismissing Conway, but Young again got the support of Ravindra and together they decided India’s defeat.
With this, New Zealand was successful in winning a Test match in India after 36 years. Earlier, the Kiwi team had defeated India in Test at home in the series played in 1988-89. Ravindra remained unbeaten after scoring 39 runs. Whereas Will Young returned unbeaten on 47 runs. The second Test of the series between the two teams is to be played in Pune from October 24.
