The Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia starts from 22nd November. The first match of the five-match Test series will be played in Perth. Before this match, Team India has suffered a big setback. Shubman Gill suffered a finger injury while fielding in the slips during a match simulation in Perth on Saturday (16 November). If reports are to be believed, Gill has a fracture in his thumb due to which he will not be available for the first Test.

Shubman Gill can be fit before the second test- BCCI sources

According to the Indian Express report, a BCCI source said,

His (Shubhman Gill) thumb is not feeling well. We got a scan done and it was diagnosed as a fracture. It will take at least two weeks for him to recover. He has been dropped from the first test match. Since there is a huge gap between the first and second Test, we are hopeful that he will recover in time for the second Test.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Abhimanyu Easwaran can open

There were reports of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill opening in the first test. But after Gill’s injury and in the absence of Rohit Sharma, Abhimanyu Easwaran can now open with Yashasvi Jaiswal. Whereas, KL Rahul can bat at number three.

Let us tell you, Rahul also got injured during practice. Rahul suffered a right elbow injury during a center wicket match simulation on 15 November, after which he did not even bat. According to BCCI source, Rahul is completely fit and will play the first test.
