Former Indian cricket team’s veteran middle order batsman Suresh Raina is all set to return to the field as the captain of VVIP UP in the inaugural edition of the much-awaited Indian Veteran Premier League (IVPL). The Indian Veteran Premier League matches are to be held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun from 23 February to 3 March 2024.
After getting the captaincy of the team, Raina expressed his enthusiasm in an enthusiastic statement and said that he is very happy to be a part of the Indian Veteran Premier League. Quoting My Khel, Suresh Raina said in his statement that, “Greetings to everyone. I’m Suresh Raina and I’m thrilled to be a part of the Indian Veteran Premier League. I will play for Team VVIP Uttar Pradesh. This is a chance to play with legendary cricketers once again.”
VVIP in Uttar Pradesh Suresh Raina Former IPL champion Rajat Bhatia and former Australian all-rounder Dan Christian will also be included. With their combined experience and skills, the team will aim to do well in the IVPL, which will be hosted at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun.
Organized by the Board for Veteran Cricket in India (BVCI), the IVPL platform brings together legends like Virender Sehwag, Munaf Patel, Suresh Raina, Rajat Bhatia, Chris Gayle, Yusuf Pathan, Herschelle Gibbs, Praveen Kumar and many others.
Praveen Tyagi, acting president of BVCI and chairman of IVPL, said, we are trying to make it one of the best leagues in India after IPL. We have added the world’s best experienced cricketers like Chris Gayle, Virender Sehwag and Suresh Raina. This will inject a new energy for veteran cricket in India. Also, it will work like magic for the veteran cricketers, who are living their passion of playing with international cricketers from all over the world.
