The first ODI match played today i.e. on 2nd August was a tie. Both these teams performed very well in this match. Let us tell you, at one time India was in a very good position in this match but Sri Lankan bowlers brought their team back in this match.
Sri Lanka batted first and scored 230 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 50 overs. For Sri Lanka, Pathum Nissanka scored 56 runs in 75 balls with the help of 9 fours. Apart from Pathum Nissanka, Dunith Wellalage contributed 67* runs in 65 balls with the help of 7 fours and 2 sixes.
Wanindu Hasaranga scored 24 runs while Janith Liyanage played an innings of 20 runs. Wicketkeeper batsman Kusal Mendis and captain Charith Aslanka contributed 14-14 runs. For India, Akshar Patel and Arshdeep Singh took two wickets each while Mohammad Siraj, Shivam Dubey, Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar took one wicket each. All the bowlers did their job well.

The Indian team, which came out to chase the target, got off to a very good start and there was an important partnership of 75 runs for the first wicket between captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. Shubman Gill failed to score big in this match and was out after scoring 16 runs. However, captain Rohit Sharma batted very well and played an aggressive innings of 58 runs in 47 balls with the help of 7 fours and 3 sixes.
Rohit Sharma did not spare any Sri Lankan bowler and hit hard against all of them. Veteran batsman Virat Kohli scored 24 runs while Shreyas Iyer returned to the pavilion after scoring 23 runs. Despite a good start, India was in a very difficult situation at one time and they lost their five wickets for 132 runs. After this, KL Rahul and Akshar Patel batted very well and made an important partnership for their team.
There was an important partnership of 57 runs for the 6th wicket between these two players. KL Rahul played an innings of 31 runs in the first ODI. Talking about Axar Patel, he scored 33 runs. Shivam Dubey played a valuable innings of 25 runs but he failed to make his team win. India scored 230 runs after losing all its wickets. Captain Charith Aslanka and Wanindu Hasaranga took three wickets each for Sri Lanka.
