Speaking about MI’s captaincy change, Adam Gilchrist said it was not a seamless trade
Mumbai Indians (MI) have not had a good start in IPL 2024. The kind of team it looks like on paper, MI has not been able to perform in reality in the ongoing tournament. After losing three consecutive matches, the team made a comeback and won two matches, but again faced defeat against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday.
In the match played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, Chennai Super Kings, batting first, scored 206 runs for 4 wickets in 20 overs with the help of half-centuries from Ruturaj Gaikwad (69) and Shivam Dubey (66). In response, despite the century innings of Rohit Sharma (105*), Mumbai Indians could score only 186 runs for 6 wickets in the stipulated overs and lost the match by 20 runs.
It was not a smooth trade – Adam Gilchrist
After the match, captain Hardik Pandya said such things during the presentation that it seems that everything is not going well in the Mumbai Indians camp. He praised the innings of Mathisha Pathirana and MS Dhoni. After this, speculations intensified that he was getting relatively less support in the MI camp.
Now Adam Gilchrist has reacted to the disappointing performance of Mumbai Indians under the leadership of Hardik. Speaking about MI’s captaincy change, Adam Gilchrist said that it was not a smooth trade, their fans have not accepted it yet.
Gilchrist said that the fans are also a part of the franchise and they are hungry for success and if their expectations are not met, they will not understand it properly. He also said that to make room for Hardik, it was decided to trade Cameron Green, who performed well under Rohit’s captaincy last year, which the fans did not expect.
