IPL 2024: CSK stops KKR’s victory chariot, home team wins another match in Chepauk

On behalf of Chennai Super Kings, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad batted brilliantly and scored a tremendous half-century for his team.

Today i.e. on 8th April, in an important match played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Chennai Super Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 7 wickets. In this match, all the players from Chennai Super Kings performed very well and played an important role in the victory of their team. Kolkata batsmen failed to leave their mark at the Chepauk Stadium.

Batting first, Kolkata scored 137 runs losing 9 wickets. On behalf of the team, captain Shreyas Iyer scored 34 runs in 32 balls with the help of 3 fours, while Sunil Narayan scored 27 runs in 20 balls with the help of 3 fours and 2 sixes. Young batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi contributed 24 runs while Ramandeep Singh scored 13 runs. Andre Russell failed to score big and returned to the pavilion after scoring 10 runs.

Experienced spinner Ravindra Jadeja bowled very well for Chennai Super Kings and took three wickets for 18 runs in four overs. Tushar Deshpande also troubled the Kolkata batsmen a lot and took three wickets for 33 runs in four overs. Mustafizur Rahman took two wickets while Maheesh Theekshana took one.

Chennai Super Kings, who came to chase the target, did not have such a good start and young opener Rachin Ravindra returned to the pavilion after scoring 15 runs. However, on behalf of Chennai Super Kings, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad batted brilliantly and scored a tremendous half-century for his team. He played a match-winning inning of 67* runs in 58 balls with the help of 9 fours. For Kolkata team, Vaibhav Arora took two wickets for 28 runs in four overs while Sunil Narayan took one wicket. This is Kolkata Knight Riders’ first defeat in IPL 2024.
