IPL 2024: Gujarat Titans get a big shock, last season’s Purple Cap winner out of the entire tournament

Indian Premier League 2024 is going to start soon. However, Indian Premier League 2014 franchise Gujarat Titans has already suffered a major setback before the tournament. Star fast bowler Mohammed Shami is out of the tournament due to a knee injury. Let us tell you, Mohammed Shami had performed very well in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

He was the highest wicket taker bowler of this tournament. However, since then he was out of the Indian team due to injury. Now Gujarat Titans have suffered a big blow because Mohammed Shami was one of the best fast bowlers of the team. This experienced bowler had left his mark in the Indian Premier League 2023 also. He took 28 wickets in 17 matches and Shami won the Purple Cap in the 2023 season.

A senior BCCI source told PTI, ‘Shami was in London in the last week of January and had taken special injections for his knee and was also told that he could start running again in three weeks. However the injection did not work and now the last option is surgery. He will soon go to UK for surgery.

Even though Gujarat Titans have many other good players, they are going to miss Mohammed Shami in the upcoming season. Mohammed Shami bowled very well in the 2022 season also.

However, they had to face defeat against Chennai Super Kings in the final.
