South Africa and Delhi Capitals’ young batsman Tristan Stubbs has once again impressed everyone with his batting. He played a brilliant inning of 41 runs in 20 balls against Rajasthan Royals in the 56th match of IPL 2024.
Thanks to this important inning of Tristan Stubbs, Delhi Capitals set a huge target of 222 runs for Rajasthan. In response to which Sanju Samson’s team could score only 201 runs in the stipulated overs and lost the match by 20 runs.
Apart from Stubbs, Abhishek Porel (65) and Jack Fraser McGurk (50) played excellent innings. Now after the match, Tristan Stubbs has revealed the secret of his success. He told how playing hockey in his early years helped him in his batting.

In a video shared by the IPL, Tristan Stubbs says, “I think initially you get to learn the basics of hockey and I have practiced it a lot. The way I move my hand against the spin and seam is like I’m holding a hockey stick, so that’s where it must be coming from. “Both sweeps really, hitting the bottom definitely comes to me from hockey.”

Let us tell you that Stubbs has had a great season with the bat. He has scored 318 runs in 11 innings at an average of 53 and strike rate of 188.16. This also includes two half-centuries. The 23-year-old scored 54 (32) in his second match and followed it up with a sensational innings of 71* (25) against Mumbai Indians. Then he played another brilliant innings (48*) against MI in the next match.
Talking about Delhi Capitals team, after the win against Rajasthan, it has reached fifth place in the points table. So far the team has played 12 matches, in which it has won 6 and lost 6.
