The 36th match of IPL 2024 was played between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Kolkata won this match by 1 run. RCB won the toss and decided to bowl first. Batting first, KKR scored 222 runs at the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. In reply, RCB team could score only 221 runs after playing full 20 overs. With this defeat, RCB’s hopes of reaching the playoffs are almost over.

Talking about KKR’s innings, Phil Salt once again gave a great start to the team. Sunil Narine, who had scored a century in the last match, was out here after scoring just 10 runs in 15 balls. Salt played a stormy innings of 48 runs in 14 balls. Whereas in the middle order, Shreyas Iyer scored 50 runs in 36 balls. In the end, 222 runs were scored thanks to the short but fast innings of Rinku Singh (24), Andre Russell (27) and Ramandeep (24). Yash Dayal and Cameron Green took two wickets each for RCB.

Will Jacques and Patidar’s stormy innings went in vain

When it came to chasing the target, RCB batsmen also made a bright start in this match. Virat looked as if he had come set from the dressing room. Virat was controversially run out after scoring 18 runs in 7 balls. After that Faf also got out early. However, after this there was a partnership of 102 runs between Will Jacques (55 runs) and Rajat Patidar (52 runs) and by then RCB had made a strong hold in this match.

But after this, Andre Russell brought Kolkata back into the match by dismissing Will Jacques and Patidar in the same over. This time the Bengaluru team kept losing wickets at frequent intervals. Although at one time it seemed that Dinesh Karthik would again play a good innings and finish the match but it did not happen. In the end RCB team remained behind by 1 run. For KKR, Russell took maximum three wickets, apart from him Narine and Rana took two wickets each.
