England’s star all-rounder Liam Livingstone has decided to leave IPL 2024 early to recover from his knee injury ahead of the T20 World Cup. Livingstone has suffered several muscle-related injuries in his career and even during the current tournament, the English cricketer was out of a few matches due to injury.
Revealing his decision to leave PBKS early, Livingstone gave an update on his knee injury on his Instagram account and thanked everyone for their love and support throughout the season. The star all-rounder also mentioned that it was a tough campaign for him, as Punjab is currently at the bottom of the table, but he enjoyed playing in the IPL.
Liam Livingstone shared a special post on Instagram
Livingstone wrote on his Insta post, “IPL is done for another year, will have to recover from my knee injury for the upcoming World Cup. Thanks once again to the fans of Punjab Kings for their love and support. “A disappointing season as a team and individually, but as always I loved every minute of playing in the IPL.”
According to ESPNcricinfo, Livingstone’s knee injury is not serious and the player is expected to be fit for the T20 World Cup starting on June 01. Let us tell you that just before the T20 World Cup, the England team will play a four-match T20 series against Pakistan. However, it is not yet certain whether Livingstone will be a part of that series or not.
Let us tell you that Livingstone played a total of 7 matches in IPL 2024, in which he scored 111 runs at a strike rate of 142.30. In bowling, the 30-year-old player took only three wickets. His form is currently under scrutiny, and if he does not regain his form before the T20 World Cup, he may even be dropped from England’s playing XI.
