But Rishabh Pant is all set to make his comeback in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and he can be seen leading Delhi Capitals throughout the season. However, the former India captain clarified that the team management does not want to put any kind of pressure on him and will take things slowly with Pant as he is a very important part of the team. Ganguly also said that if Pant is not fit for some matches, there are other players available who can lead the team and pointed out that if Pant is not fit then Kumar Kushagra, Ricky Bhui, Shai Hope and Tristan One of the stubs can do wicketkeeping.
“He has done everything to be fit and that is why the NCA will clear him,” Sourav Ganguly was quoted as saying by Times of India. Let Rishabh get the approval on March 5, only then we will talk about the captaincy backup. We are taking a cautious approach with him because he has a very long career ahead of him. We do not want to be in any kind of hurry regarding it.
The former captain further said, “We will see how Rishabh reacts. He will join the camp after getting approval from NCA. We will take it match by match. We can’t predict, Kumar is sharp as far as wicketkeeping options are concerned. Ricky Bhui has had a very good season. There are Shai Hope and Tristan Stubbs who can fill that role.
