Indian Premier League 2024: Former Indian cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar (Sanjay Manjrekar) has expressed disappointment over the schedule of the upcoming Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) starting from March 22.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on February 22 announced the schedule for the first two weeks of the upcoming IPL 2024. During this period, all ten teams will play 21 matches, in which a franchise will get a minimum of 3 matches and a maximum of 5 matches. However, BCCI has made a change this season, and Sanjay Manjrekar is not happy with it.

Actually, the upcoming IPL 2024 will start with the defending champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (rcb), whereas as per tradition it should have been a clash with last season’s runner-up Gujarat Titans (GT).

“I think the champions should play the first game and CSK deserves the first game,” Sanjay Manjrekar was quoted as saying by Star Sports. I feel that last year’s finalists Gujarat Titans should have played their first match of this season against CSK and it would have been ideal. But maybe there will be a good reason to make a change this time.”

‘It’s Dhoni vs Virat’

Meanwhile, cricket experts believe that the first match of the upcoming IPL 2024 will be between the superstars of Indian cricket rather than between the CSK and RCB franchises, as both the teams have star-studded lineups.

Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, Mohammed Siraj, Cameron Green, and Glenn Maxwell are among the biggest names for RCB, while CSK has great players like MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell, and Deepak Chahar.

Sanjay Manjrekar finally said: “What you are seeing right now is a clash of superstars more than franchises, it is Dhoni vs Virat, right?”
