CSK and RCB have shown interest in signing Sarfaraz Khan after his impressive Test debut.
If some media reports are to be believed, Sarfaraz Khan is reportedly set to join Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for the upcoming edition. Let us tell you that in 2015, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) bought Sarfaraz Khan and he made his IPL debut with RCB in the same year and was eventually released before the 2019 season.
He was a part of Punjab Kings from 2019 to 2021. After that he moved to Delhi Capitals. But before this season’s auction, Delhi released him. According to a report in Bengali daily newspaper Anandabazar Patrika, KKR’s newly appointed mentor Gautam Gambhir is advocating the signing of the 26-year-old player.
CSK and RCB also want Sarfaraz to join the team
Furthermore, the report claims that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have expressed interest in signing him after his impressive Test debut. Let us tell you that all three teams still have enough money to sign Sarfaraz. RCB and KKR have Rs 2.85 crore and Rs 1.35 crore respectively, while Chennai Super Kings have Rs 1 crore.
He had previously played for RCB, PBKS and DC, although he never made a mark in any season. With a strike rate of 85.48 and an average of 13.25, he has scored only 53 runs in four innings during the 2023 IPL for DC. He has played a total of 50 matches in the IPL so far where he has scored only 585 runs, with an average of 22.5 and a strike rate of 130.58.
Sarfaraz Khan was included in the squad for the first time in India in 2024, following injuries to Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul in the first Test against England in Hyderabad. He has been in the news since Anil Kumble gave him the international cap ahead of India’s third Test match in Rajkot. The 26-year-old player scored 62 runs in 66 balls in the debut match but was unfortunately run out by Jadeja. After this, he scored unbeaten 68 runs in 72 balls in the second innings and made an important contribution in India’s victory.
