In the 22nd match of IPL 2024, Chennai Super Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 7 wickets. Thanks to the brilliant bowling of Ravindra Jadeja and Tushar Deshpande, CSK restricted KKR to just 137 runs. After this, the target was easily achieved thanks to the excellent half-century of captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. With this win, CSK has stopped Vijayarath of KKR.

Earlier, after losing the toss and batting first, Kolkata Knight Riders scored 137 runs at the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. CSK bowlers displayed excellent bowling. Tushar Deshpande showed Phil Salt the way to the pavilion on a golden duck on the very first ball of the innings. However, after this Sunil Narayan and Angkrish Raghuvanshi took over the innings and played a half-century partnership.

But Ravindra Jadeja, who came to bowl in the 7th over, made both these batsmen his victims on the first and fifth balls. Narayan scored 27 runs in 20 balls, while Raghuvanshi contributed 24 runs in 18 balls.

After this, Chennai bowlers became dominant and did not give any chance to any KKR batsman to survive. Captain Shreyas Iyer played the highest innings of 34 runs for KKR. Ravindra Jadeja and Tushar Deshpande took three wickets each for Chennai. Whereas Mustafizur Rahman got 2 wickets.

Chasing the easy target of 138 runs, Chennai Super Kings won with 14 balls and 7 wickets remaining. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad showed his batting prowess today and scored his first fifty in the tournament.

The team’s start was not that good and Rachin Ravindra was out once early. He was dismissed by Vaibhav Arora on a personal score of 15. After this, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Daryl Mitchell made a comeback for the team by making a half-century partnership.

Mitchell’s innings of 25 runs was stopped by Sunil Narayan. Shivam Dubey formed a useful partnership with Gaikwad and almost ensured the team’s victory. He hit some excellent shots and scored 28 runs in 18 balls, which included three sixes.

Gaikwad played an unbeaten inning of 67 runs in 58 balls. He hit 9 fours in his innings. Dhoni returned unbeaten after scoring one run. Vaibhav Arora was successful in taking two wickets from KKR.
