In the 28th match of IPL 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 8 wickets at their home ground. Batting first, Lucknow set a target of 162 runs for KKR. KKR restricted Lucknow to 161/7

Earlier in the match, Lucknow Super Giants, batting first, scored 161 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs against Kolkata Knight Riders. Nicholas Puran played the highest innings of 45 runs in 32 balls for the team. Apart from this, captain KL Rahul scored 39 runs. Ayush Badoni contributed 29 runs.

Mitchell Starc looked in form for KKR today. He bowled very economically and took three wickets for 28 runs in his four over spell. Whereas Vaibhav Arora, Sunil Narayan, Varun Chakraborty and Andre Russell got one wicket each.

Philip Salt single-handedly finished the match

KKR, which came out to chase the target of 162 runs, did not face much difficulty and achieved the target by losing only 2 wickets in 15.4 overs. Opener Philip Salt single-handedly finished the match. He played an unbeaten inning of 89 runs in 47 balls with the help of 14 fours and 3 sixes. Apart from this, captain Shreyas Iyer scored 38 runs in 38 balls.

After Sunil Narine (6) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (7) were out cheaply, Philip Salt and Shreyas Iyer took the innings forward. Both the batsmen did not give any chance to the Lucknow bowlers to make a comeback and ensured the team’s victory by making a century partnership. Mohsin Khan was the most successful bowler for Lucknow, taking 2 wickets for 29 runs in four overs.
