In the 14th match of IPL 2024, Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by 6 wickets. In this low scoring match, Rajasthan won the toss and invited Mumbai to bat first. And Rajasthan bowlers proved the decision of captain Sanju Samson right and restricted MI to just 125 runs. In response, RR achieved the target by losing 4 wickets in 15.3 overs, thanks to Riyan Parag’s half-century innings. This is Rajasthan’s third consecutive win in the tournament, while Mumbai’s third consecutive defeat.

Great bowling by RR

Earlier, Mumbai Indians, who came to bat after losing the toss, could score only 125 runs at the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. It was very bad and Trent Boult sent Rohit Sharma and Naman Dheer to the pavilion for golden ducks in the very first over. After this, in his next over, Boult dismissed Dewald Brevis without opening the account.

In the fourth over, Nandre Berger broke the back of the Mumbai team by getting Ishan Kishan caught behind the wicket by Sanju Samson. Hardik Pandya (34) and Tilak Verma (32) tried to handle the innings by making a half-century partnership, but Yuzvendra Chahal destroyed Mumbai’s hopes by dismissing both the batsmen.

In the end Tim David contributed 17 runs. Rajasthan bowlers demonstrated excellent bowling today. Yuzvendra Chahal and Trent Boult took three wickets each. Nandre Berger got two wickets and Avesh Khan got one wicket.

Riyan Parag’s match winning innings

Rajasthan Royals, chasing a modest target, won the match by scoring 127 runs for 4 wickets in 15.3 overs. The team did not have a good start and opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was once again out cheaply. He scored only 10 runs. After this, Jos Buttler (13) and captain Sanju Samson (12) tried to handle the innings.

But as soon as Akash Madhwal came on the attack, he first dismissed Sanju Samson and then showed the way to the pavilion to Jos Buttler in his next over. After this Riyan Parag took charge and batted brilliantly. Parag, who was looking in good form this season, played an unbeaten inning of 54 runs and led Rajasthan to victory by 6 wickets. In his innings, Riyan Parag faced 39 balls and hit 5 fours and three sixes.

R Ashwin contributed 16 runs, while Shubham Dubey remained unbeaten on 8 runs. The most successful bowler for Mumbai was Akash Madhwal, who took three important wickets. Kwena Mafaka got one wicket.
