In the second match of IPL 2024, Punjab Kings made a great start in the tournament by defeating Delhi Capitals by 4 wickets. Chasing the target of 175 runs, Punjab Kings achieved it in 19.2 overs losing 6 wickets. Sam Curran scored 63 runs in 47 balls for Punjab. Liam Livingstone played an unbeaten inning of 38 runs.

After losing the toss and opting to bat first, DC scored 174 runs at the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Shai Hope made the maximum contribution of 33 runs. Whereas David Warner and Mitchell Marsh played innings of 29 and 20 runs respectively. Akshar Patel scored 21 runs. Arshdeep Singh and Harshal Patel took 2-2 wickets for Punjab.

In response, Punjab Kings team achieved the target of 175 runs by losing 6 wickets, thanks to the brilliant half-century innings of Sam Curran. Both the batsmen made a half-century partnership and took Punjab Kings closer to victory. It seemed that Sam would return after leading the team to victory, but in the 19th over, Khalil Ahmed bowled him on the third ball. After this, Shashank Singh walked on the next ball without opening the account. Khalil Ahmed made the match exciting by taking two wickets in two balls. But in the 20th over, Livingstone took the team to the target by hitting a six.
