In the 10th match of IPL 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 7 wickets. Along with this RCB Bengaluru are yet to win against KKR since 2016. Batting first, thanks to Virat Kohli’s 83* runs, RCB scored 182 runs in 20 overs. In response, KKR achieved the target in 16.5 overs. With this victory, Kolkata team has reached second place in the points table with four points.

Virat Kohli’s back-to-back fifty

After losing the toss and opting to bat, Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 182 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. The team did not have a good start and Faf du Plessis was out after scoring only 8 runs. But Virat Kohli and Cameron Green played explosive batting and formed an important partnership.

Green played an innings of 33 runs in 21 balls, which included four fours and two sixes. After his dismissal, Glenn Maxwell contributed 28 runs. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals from one end, but Virat Kohli kept batting aggressively from the other end. He remained unbeaten till the end and scored 83* runs in 59 balls. In this innings, Kohli hit four fours and four sixes.

Whereas Dinesh Karthik played an important inning of 20* runs in 8 balls. Among RCB bowlers, Harshit Rana and Andre Russell managed to take 2-2 wickets. Sunil Narayan got one wicket.

KKR’s tremendous start

Chasing the target of 183 runs, KKR achieved it in 16.5 overs by losing just three wickets. Openers Philip Salt and Sunil Narine gave a great start to KKR. Both the batsmen batted aggressively and scored 85 runs in just 6 overs. However, only after this Narayan became the victim of Mayank Dagar after scoring 47 runs in 22 balls. In this innings he hit two fours and 5 sixes. Philip Salt also returned to the pavilion after scoring 30 runs.

After this, Venkatesh Iyer and captain Shreyas Iyer took charge and took the team closer to victory by scoring runs rapidly. Venkatesh looked in good form and scored a half-century of 50 runs in 30 balls before getting out. After the fall of three wickets, KKR did not suffer any further setback. Shreyas Iyer returned unbeaten after scoring 39 runs and Rinku Singh returned unbeaten after scoring 5 runs.
