In IPL 2024, Rajasthan Royals registered a thrilling win by 3 wickets against Punjab Kings in the last match. Rajasthan team is known for its strong batting lineup, but while chasing the target of 148 runs against Punjab Kings, the team was seen struggling. In the absence of Jos Buttler, the team went with the opening pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tanush Kotian. All-rounder Tanush Kotian plays domestic cricket for Mumbai, he had not opened even once in his career.

Tanush Kotian was seen struggling while opening for Rajasthan Royals. Batting at a straight rate of 77.41, he scored 24 runs in 31 balls. Rajasthan Royals are facing criticism due to the decision of sending Tanush Kotian as opener. Meanwhile, Sanju Samson has given a big statement defending the management’s decision.

Sanju Samson said this about Tanush Kotian

While defending the decision of sending Tanush Kotian to the top order against Punjab Kings, Sanju Samson while talking on the post match presentation said, ‘Tanush is a very interesting player, he has done brilliantly in the Ranji Trophy and everyone was impressed watching him bat in the nets. We have a set batting order and we didn’t want to mess it up for one game.

Yashasvi Jaiswal seems to be struggling with poor form this season. Till now in IPL 2024, not a single big inning has been seen from his bat. Against Punjab Kings, Yashasvi Jaiswal played an inning of 39 runs in 28 balls with the help of 4 fours.

Captain Sanju Samson looked happy with Yashasvi’s performance. Talking further on the post match presentation, Sanju Samson said, ‘Nice to see Yashasvi scoring runs. He scored 30-40 runs and it was good to see him getting back into form. Rajasthan Royals are at the first position in the points table with 5 wins and 10 points from 6 matches. The team will play the next match against Kolkata Knight Riders on 16 April.
