The much-awaited schedule of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 was finally announced on Thursday, February 22. On 22 February, BCCI released the schedule for only the first 21 matches of the tournament. The tournament will start from Friday, March 22, in the first match of the tournament, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will face each other at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Ahead of the exciting opening match, former India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batsman Abhinav Mukund recalled the historic rivalry between the two teams and talked about the close matches between them. In the 31 matches played in IPL history, CSK has had the upper hand over RCB and CSK has won 20 matches while RCB has won ten matches.,
Abhinav Mukund’s surprising statement regarding CSK
Abhinav Mukund was quoted as saying by Geo Cinema, “There has been a good rivalry between CSK and RCB in the last few years. RCB had come very close to victory in Chepauk but could not win there. Some of these moments will be engraved in the hearts of fans. Speaking further, Mukund highlighted the changing nature of the Chennai pitch and said that their home ground is no longer a fortress.
He said, “The good thing for RCB is that the pitches in Chennai have changed. Now this is no longer the stronghold of CSK. The team had to face defeat from Punjab and KKR at their home ground. However, considering the spin-friendly conditions and excellent spinners, CSK looks a good team on paper.”
Of the first 21 matches, CSK will play two matches at home and the second match against Gujarat Titans (GT) on March 26. Meanwhile, the schedule for the remaining IPL matches will be announced after the Election Commission announces the schedule for the General Elections 2024.
