There will be a meeting next week

IPL chairman Arun Dhumal is currently busy with ICC responsibilities, due to which the meeting is not being held. But according to recent reports, Arun Dhumal is going to call a meeting next week regarding the Impact Player Rule. A BCCI source told InsideSport,

There has been no debate on the impact player rule. As is the case with all new rules, we seek feedback from stakeholders. The franchises have given their feedback and so have some players, we value their feedback. But the final decision has to be taken by the IPL chairman.

The Impact Player Rule was introduced in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023 with the aim of making the matches more exciting. After a successful trial, it was introduced in IPL 2023. At the same time, in IPL 2024, due to this rule, totals of more than 200 became common.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah believes that this rule has both advantages and disadvantages. According to Shah, the negative thing is that this is eliminating the role of all-rounders and the positive thing is that this gives Indian players a chance to showcase their talent.
