In order to recognize emerging players, the “IPL Emerging Player of the Year” award is given to a young player by the BCCI.
IPL Emerging Player Winners List, From 2008 to 2024: Every year, a large number of talented players are seen in the IPL. To recognize that talent and to give recognition to the emerging players, the “IPL Emerging Player of the Year” award is given to the young player by the BCCI. This award is given to only those players who have performed excellently throughout the season.
Along with this, let us tell you that some criteria or parameters have been set to identify any player as the emerging player of the season or year. Only players who fulfil these parameters are eligible for this award.
For winning the “Emerging Player of the Year Award” Criteria (IPL Emerging Player Criteria)
1) Players must be born after 1 April 1996.
2) Additionally, the player must not have played more than 25 IPL matches at the start of the IPL season.
3) The player must not have played more than 20 ODIs and 5 Test matches.
4) The player must not have won this award previously.
Let us tell you that the slogan of IPL is “Yatra Pratibha Avasar Prapti”, which is translated as “where talent meets opportunity”. This line reflects the motto of the tournament as IPL provides a platform for young cricketers to showcase their talent to the whole world.
New young cricketers get a chance to play against the best players from around the world and there is no better platform than this to give their future a golden opportunity. In the last few years, IPL has seen many youngsters who have taken the entire tournament as well as the cricket world by storm with their excellent performances.
RCB’s Shreevats Goswami became the first player to win the Emerging Player of the Season award in IPL 2008, while Rohit Sharma won the award while playing for Deccan Chargers in the 2009 edition. Mustafizur Rahman is the only overseas player to claim this award so far, winning it in the 2016 season. Let’s take a look at the complete list-
