The crucial match played at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow ended in a draw between Mumbai and Rest of India. In this match, Mumbai’s best batsman Sarfaraz Khan batted brilliantly and played a match-winning inning of 222* runs with the help of 25 fours and 4 sixes in 286 balls in the first innings.

Sarfaraz Khan did not spare any bowler of Rest of India during his innings and hit hard against all of them. However, after the match was over, Sarfaraz Khan dedicated his double century to his younger brother Musheer Khan who could not participate in the important match of Irani Cup 2024 due to a car accident. Musheer Khan has suffered a serious neck injury and has been asked to stay away from cricket for 3 months.

After the match was over, Sarfaraz Khan said, ‘This trophy belongs to the team but I had promised at home that I will score a century for Musheer. This is for them.

Mumbai wins Irani Cup 2024

Talking about the match, Mumbai scored 537 runs in its first innings thanks to Sarfaraz Khan’s unbeaten double century. Apart from Sarfaraz Khan, Shreyas Iyer played an inning of 57 runs while captain Ajinkya Rahane scored 97 runs. Tanush Kotian contributed 64 runs. Rest of India scored 416 runs losing all the wickets in their first innings.

After this, Mumbai declared its second innings at 329 runs for 8 wickets. Tanush Kotian scored 114* runs on behalf of the team. Apart from him, Prithvi Shaw contributed 76 runs while Mohit Awasthi scored 51* runs.
