After the run out in the semi-final of ODI World Cup 2019, every cricket fan including Dhoni had tears in their eyes.
Former Indian team captain and cricketer MS Dhoni was recently asked a question about the semi-final match of the 2019 ODI World Cup. It has been 5 years since the World Cup 2019, but the fans still remember MS Dhoni’s run out due to which India was out of the semi-finals. Recently, during an event, when a fan asked Dhoni that after the defeat in the 2019 World Cup, we were all heartbroken, how did Dhoni deal with it personally?
MS Dhoni gave a big statement regarding the 2019 World Cup defeat
MS Dhoni replied, “It was difficult because I knew this would be my last World Cup, so it would have been nice to be in the winning team. It was a heartbreaking moment, so we accepted the result and tried to move on. It takes some time and you get some time after the World Cup.
I haven’t played international cricket since then so I’ve had a lot of time. So, yes, it was heartbreaking but at the same time you have to get over it. So you just accept that you tried your best, but you couldn’t win it.”

Talking about that match, India got a target of 240 runs in the semi-final match played against New Zealand on 10 July in Manchester. India’s top order flopped badly in that match. After this, Jadeja played a brilliant innings of 77 runs in 59 balls and raised hopes of victory. At the other end, Dhoni was batting cautiously.
India needed 31 runs to win in the last 12 balls. Dhoni hit a six on the first ball, but while trying to run two runs on the third ball, he was run out. Martin Guptill’s throw hit the wicket directly and Dhoni fell short of reaching the crease by a few inches. After that run out, every cricket fan including Dhoni had tears in their eyes and millions of fans’ hearts were broken that day. In that match, Dhoni was out after scoring 50 runs in 72 balls. That was also the last match of Dhoni’s international career.
