On the other hand, the Board of Control for Cricket in India is in a dilemma regarding the future of the impact player rule in the domestic circuit. The BCCI says that if this rule remains in the league, then the 12th player will be given 100 percent of the match fee.
Will the impact player rule remain in SMAT? BCCI gave this statement
According to Cricbuzz, the BCCI said,
With regards to the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, if a team decides to use an ‘Impact Player’ during a match, that 12th player will be eligible for 100 per cent match fee.
Whether the impact player rule will remain in IPL or not depends on the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. If the rule remains in SMAT, then it is likely to remain in the upcoming season of IPL. SMAT will soon announce the rules of the upcoming season and share it with the participating teams and the media. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah will now take the final decision regarding the impact player rule, which can be officially announced in a few days.
