Kerala’s experienced all-rounder Jalaj Saxena achieved an incredible feat in the Ranji Trophy today i.e. on 6th November. Jalaj Saxena has become the first player in the history of Ranji Trophy to score 6000 runs and also take 400 wickets in this important tournament. The veteran player achieved this feat during the match being played against Uttar Pradesh.

Former player Robin Uthappa has praised Jalaj Saxena for his incredible achievement. Robin Uthappa also said that not every best player gets a chance to play for Team India. Let us tell you that in the match played against Uttar Pradesh, Jalaj Saxena took 5 wickets. Because of his bowling, Uttar Pradesh was all out for 162 runs in its first innings. By the end of the first day’s play, Kerala had scored 82 runs after losing two wickets in their first innings.

Jalaj Saxena took the wickets of Madhav Kaushik, Aryan Juyal, Nitish Rana, Siddharth Yadav and Piyush Chawla in the first innings. With this, the experienced player took 5 wicket haul for the 29th time in the history of Ranji Trophy. Jalaj Saxena has become the 13th bowler in the history of Ranji Trophy to take 400 or more wickets. Last season, he became the fourth player to achieve 9000 runs and 600 wickets in all formats of domestic cricket combined.

So far this season, Saxena has scored 101 runs in two matches at an average of 50.50, while in bowling he has taken 13 wickets in four innings at an average of 19.09. This veteran player started his Ranji career in 2005 from Madhya Pradesh. For this team, he scored 4041 runs and took 159 wickets. After this, Jalaj Saxena joined the Kerala team in the 2016-17 season.

So far, in 143 first class matches, Jalaj Saxena has scored 6795 runs at an average of 33.97, which includes 14 centuries and 33 half-centuries. The off-spinner has taken 452 wickets at an average of 25.68. Experienced players would like to continue their same performance in future also.
