Jay Shah took a big step in his administrative career after assuming the post of President of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Shah, 35, is the youngest ICC president. He is replacing Greg Barkley. He has started his tenure from December 1. He is only the fifth Indian to become the head of the global body of cricket.
Jay Shah joins an elite list of Indian administrators to head the ICC along with stalwarts like Sharad Pawar, N Srinivasan, Shashank Manohar and Jagmohan Dalmiya. Shah began his journey in administration in 2009 when he was named as a member of the Executive Board of the Central Cricket Board, Ahmedabad.
In September 2013, Shah helped build the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad after becoming joint secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA). In 2015, Shah joined the BCCI as a member of the Finance and Marketing Committee.
Shah has continued to progress since then, in 2019, he became the youngest BCCI secretary at the age of 31. His role in BCCI was very important as Indian cricket took big steps, strengthening its position in the world. Let’s take a look at Jay Shah’s milestones with BCCI.

After being elected to this post, Shah had said, “Thank you everyone for electing me as the chairman of ICC. I will work to promote cricket all over the world. At present it is necessary to promote all formats of cricket. I will try to bring new technology into the game, as well as take tournaments like the World Cup to the global market. My effort is to make this game more popular than before.”
