Anshuman has played 40 Tests and 15 ODIs for India.
Former Indian cricket team opener Anshuman Gaekwad is currently battling blood cancer, and is admitted in a hospital in London. Gaekwad’s illness was reported by former cricketer Sandeep Patil earlier this month.
Moreover, the 71-year-old former player is not only battling this deadly disease, but his financial condition is also not good, for which he had recently asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for help.
On the other hand, amidst all this, former Indian player and 1983 World Cup champion captain Kapil Dev has come forward to help his fellow cricketer in this difficult time.
For this, he has also decided to give his pension to Anshuman. Apart from this, the former legendary all-rounder has also requested the fans to help him and pray for him.
A big statement from Kapil Dev came out
Let us tell you that regarding Anshuman Gaikwad, Kapil Dev said as per Sportstar- This is sad and very disappointing. I am in pain because I have played with Anshu and I cannot see him in this condition. No one should have any problem, because I know that the board (BCCI) will take care of him.
Kapil further said- We are not forcing anyone to help her. Helping Anshu has to come from your heart. During her career, she has faced some dangerous fast bowlers and has taken balls on her face and chest.
But now the time has come for us to stand up for him. I am sure cricket fans will not let him down. All of you please pray for his speedy recovery.
