Veteran batsman Karun Nair’s performance has always been very good in international cricket. However, he has not been seen playing for the Indian team for a long time. Karun Nair is currently participating in the Maharaj Trophy KSCA T20 2024. He has batted brilliantly in this tournament so far and has won the hearts of all the fans.

Karun Nair told Sportskeeda during an exclusive conversation, ‘It feels great that this tournament has started again. All the players like to play at home and it is very close to my heart. I have many memories associated with Chinnaswamy Stadium. I started my cricketing career from here.

When I went to Vidarbha from Karnataka in domestic cricket, everyone welcomed me very well. It felt like I have come back to my family after a long time. We performed very well and the team reached the finals. We could not win the finals but the performance of all the players was tremendous throughout the season. Hopefully, we will want to continue this performance in the future as well. Joining Vidarbha from Karnataka was a very different thing because both the states are very different but they did not let me feel like that.

In the last season of the County Championship, Karun Nair was seen playing for Northamptonshire. He scored 249 runs in three matches in Division One at an average of 83. Not only this, this brilliant player scored 150 runs against Surrey.

Nair further said, ‘It was a huge opportunity and every batsman wants to bat well in English conditions. This experience was really great. Ranji Trophy was really different because there was a difference in both the conditions and the ball. Everything was new here. I have scored some double centuries. I did the same this year too. It was my target to score 200 in the season and not 300 because everyone talks about my triple century against England. I hope my target is different in the next season.

It is very important to keep progressing in your game and keep performing better as a player. I am also eager to make a comeback in the Indian team. However, before that it is very important for me to perform well in domestic cricket as well. For this, I will have to play different shots and also learn them. I just want to become better than before this year. My coach and RX sir have supported me a lot.
