The 42nd match of IPL 2024 is being played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. In this match, Punjab won the toss and decided to bowl first, which proved to be completely wrong. Batting first, KKR scored 261 runs at the loss of six wickets, thanks to half-centuries from Narine and Salt.

Talking about the first innings of this match, once again Sunil Narine and Phil Salt gave a stormy start to Kolkata. Together they added 138 runs for the first wicket in 10.2 overs. Sunil Narine played a fast innings in this match and scored 71 runs in 32 balls. During his innings, Narine hit 9 fours and 4 sixes, and his strike rate was 221.88.

Whereas Phil Salt also scored 75 runs in 37 balls at a strike rate of more than 202. During this, he hit six fours and the same number of sixes. After the dismissal of these two batsmen, Venkatesh Iyer (39 runs), Andre Russell (24 runs) and Shreyas Iyer (28 runs) came to bat. Everyone played fast innings and took the team to a big score.

Talking about bowling, all the bowlers of Punjab Kings proved to be expensive. Sam Curran took one wicket for 60 runs in four overs. Arshdeep took two wickets for 45 runs. Whereas Rahul Chahar and Harshal Patel took one wicket each. Now it will be interesting to see whether the Punjab Kings team is able to achieve this target or not.

‘Jasprit Bumrah is a joke’ – shocking statement of former English bowler after Perth Test

Bumrah took 8 wickets in both the innings of that Test match and for this he was chosen Player of the Match. In the match, India achieved a spectacular victory within four days and took a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. After seeing the brilliant bowling in that match, former England cricket team fast bowler Steven Finn has praised Jasprit Bumrah’s performance in the first Test match against Australia. Finn praised him a lot and even said that he is the best player in the world. Speaking with former England captain Alastair Cook on TNT Sports, Steven Finn said, ā€œJaiswal scored a brilliant 161, but he is the player I like to watch. That is Jasprit Bumrah. I think he really is the best player in the world. Honestly, sometimes I think bowling like him is a joke! You see him bowling and you just think, I’m glad I don’t have to come out to bat.ā€ He further said, ā€œI was surprised that India went there (Australia) and defeated Australia, where usually it is very difficult to go and play cricket. Perth, I know it’s not the WACA; I know it’s a new stadium, but still, historically, Australia hasn’t lost many matches there. I thought India performed very bravely there.ā€ Let us tell you that, Bumrah now has 118 wickets in 27 Test matches in SENA countries at an impressive average of 22.55, which also includes his career best performance (6/33). During this period, he has taken five wicket hauls 7 times, which is equal to Kapil Dev. They are followed by BS Chandrashekhar and Zaheer Khan (six each), and Bishan Singh Bedi and Anil Kumble (five each).
