Lauren Cheatle was included in their squad by Gujarat Giants in the upcoming edition of the Women’s Premier League. His performance has been tremendous in Australian domestic cricket. In the last edition of the Women’s Big Bash League, this bowler had bowled brilliantly for Sydney Sixers. Lauren Cheatle will not be seen playing in the remaining matches of the Women’s National Cricket League. He bowled very well for New South Wales in the WNCL and took 11 wickets.
Cheatle has undergone treatment to recover from skin cancer on her neck, which has ruled her out of the remainder of the domestic season and the upcoming edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2024). This is not the first time that this fast bowler has undergone surgery. Earlier in 2021, she had undergone a similar operation on her leg.
New South Wales issued a statement saying, ‘Chittle aims to return to training with NSW following the players’ scheduled off-season break.’
Cheatle would like to make a comeback as soon as possible
Cheatle, who made her ODI and T20 International debut for Australia in 2017, has since battled shoulder injuries three times. The left-arm fast bowler has played only four ODIs and seven T20 Internationals so far in his short career. The surgery means she will also miss the upcoming one-off Test between Australia and South Africa women. He made his Test debut on the India tour only last year.
The young fast bowler had said in November, ‘My body has suffered a lot and even at this time I am fighting a lot of things. But I am very excited for the series against India. The fourth surgery on my shoulder was very difficult and now it is also scarred by cancer. I never expected that I would face all these difficulties. This is a very dangerous phase of my career and I have full hope that this too will pass very soon.
