A big statement by Thando Ntini, son of former South African cricket team fast bowler Makhaya Ntini, has shaken the cricket world. Thando has said that his father was a victim of racism in the South African team for years.

It is noteworthy that Makhaya Ntini played cricket for South Africa for about 13 years and he was the first black cricketer of South Africa, who is remembered in the names of some of the best fast bowlers of the Proteas team. However, now a statement given by his son has created a stir.

Let us tell you that while talking on The Load Shed podcast, Thando Ntini said about Makhaya Ntini – He (Makhaya) was fighting for his life in the team every day. Being the only (black) player on the team, it was quite disheartening to hear this from him. How many times had he been invited to dinner with those gentlemen.

So in the year 2020, when Lungi Ngidi had appealed to the cricket world to stand against racism, in an interview given to the South African Broadcasting Cooperation, Makhaya Ntini had said-

I was always alone at that time. No one knocked at my door for dinner. Teammates used to make plans in front of me, but did not include me in it. No one would come to sit with me in the breakfast room.

We used to wear the same uniform and sing the same national anthem, but I had to overcome that period. I used to give my kit bag to the bus driver and then run towards the ground. I had to do the same while coming back also.
