Najmul Hossain Shanto: Bangladesh Cricket Board has appointed Nazmul Hossain Shanto as the captain of all three formats. Nazmul Hossain Shanto’s first task after becoming the all-format captain is the home multi-format series against Sri Lanka. Nazmul Hussain Shanto has previously captained Bangladesh in 2 Tests, 6 ODIs and 3 T20 matches.

During the World Cup 2023, when Shakib Al Hasan was out due to injury, Shanto took command of the team. Before the start of the multi-format series against Sri Lanka, Najmul Hossain Shanto has talked about the challenges of captaincy.

The first match of the T20 series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will be played in Sylhet on March 4. Talking about captaincy from the first match, Nazmul Hussain Shanto told on Cricbuzz, ‘I know it (being captain of all formats) is challenging but it will be easier to plan. I have to know about each cricketer, although we live together and play together but it will be easier to plan because I will be captaining all three formats.

Najmul Hossain Shanto also said that he has to improve the image of Bangladesh cricket in the Test format. Besides, he also wants the team to win the trophy during his tenure. Shanto said, ‘I don’t think we have improved much in Test cricket, but we are playing better than before and I personally want us to win those matches when we are playing at home and give everyone a taste of Test cricket. The importance should be understood.

Nazmul Hussain Shanto further said, ‘We are performing well in ODIs, but as a team we have not won any big tournament yet, so we want to move forward with a plan on how we can do well in big tournaments. Can play and bring trophy for the country.

Najmul Hossain Shanto has been seen playing his best for Bangladesh recently. Shanto has scored 1,650 runs for Bangladesh since 2023. Shanto further said that now his responsibility as captain has increased, hence he needs to show more ability in batting.
