Ihsanullah Janat banned for match-fixing: The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has banned top-order batsman Ihsanullah Janat from all forms of cricketing activity for five years with immediate effect. Janat was found guilty of violating the ACB and ICC Anti-Corruption Codes over match-fixing during the second edition of the Kabul Premier League (KPL) and has accepted the charge.
26-year-old Janat has played three Tests, 16 ODIs and one T20 match for Afghanistan, making his debut in early 2017. Janat was considered a brilliant stroke player and after seeing his game, experts believed that he would go on to become a big player for Afghanistan. However, many believed that Janat was given a chance to debut much earlier.

The anti-corruption body of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has revealed that three other players are also under suspicion. At present, their investigation is going on. Regarding Ihsanullah Janat, the ACB said in a statement, “Janat was found guilty of violating Article 2.1.1 of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code, which includes using improper influence or attempting to fix the result, progress, conduct or any other aspect of a match.”
The statement further said, “In light of this violation, he has been banned for five years from all cricket-related activities. Janat has accepted the charges and confessed to his involvement in corrupt activities.”
