West Indies great batsman Chris Gayle has predicted that MS Dhoni will not play all the matches in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) after Ruturaj takes over the captaincy of Chennai Super Kings (CSK). MS Dhoni stepped down from the captaincy of Chennai ahead of the match between CSK and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on March 22.
Let us tell you that, under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya, Dhoni gave CSK its record fifth title by winning the final of IPL 2023 against Gujarat Titans. It was thought that the 2023 edition would be his last season but he expressed his desire to play one more season. He is again playing in IPL 2024 but this time he has entered the field only as a player.
MS Dhoni will not play all the matches- Chris Gayle
Chris Gayle said before the CSK vs RCB match on Jio Cinema, “Maybe he (MS Dhoni) may not play all the matches. There may be a little break for them in between. So this is the decision. But MSD will do well, don’t worry about it.”
Let us tell you that Dhoni retired from international cricket on 15 August 2020, after this he has been playing IPL continuously. However, every year he is asked the same question in IPL, will this be his last IPL season? And every time Dhoni denies this. However, there are high chances that this could be Dhoni’s last IPL season.
MS Dhoni looked quite fit in the match played against RCB. In this match, along with taking two catches, he also made one run out. He looked as ready as ever behind the wicket. However, he did not get a chance to bat in this match. It is expected that in the upcoming matches, he will be seen entertaining the fans with the bat also.
