Former captain Sourav Ganguly believes that if India has to do well in the T20 World Cup, then Virat Kohli will have to bat with freedom like he did for his franchise RCB in the IPL. Kohli was the highest run-scorer in IPL 2024 and he gave a befitting reply to his trolls by showing aggressive play in the middle overs.

Ganguly also advised that he should open the innings with captain Rohit Sharma. His strike rate was also the best in his IPL career this season. The RCB star batsman scored 741 runs in 15 matches. His average was 61.75 and strike rate was 154.70. Ganguly has said that if Team India has to do well in the T20 World Cup, then Virat Kohli will have to play with complete freedom.

During a conversation on RevSportz, Sourav Ganguly said, “I would like Virat and Rohit to open together. I want Virat to bat the same way he did for RCB in the second half of the IPL. He has to bat with freedom. Needless to say, he is a great player, but for India to do well, Virat has to bat with freedom like in the IPL. So my choice would be Virat and Rohit in the top order.”
