Rahul Dravid’s tenure will end after T20 World Cup 2024.
Rahul Dravid’s tenure as head coach will end after the T20 World Cup 2024. Keeping that in mind, the Board of Control for Cricket in India recently invited applications for the post of head coach. After this, many types of reports came out regarding this in which many types of claims were also made. Many reports claimed that the BCCI offered Ricky Ponting and Justin Langer to become the head coach.
However, all these reports have now been dismissed by BCCI secretary Jay Shah. He said that the board has not offered coaching to any former Australian cricketer. Apart from this, he said that BCCI is looking for such veterans who have a good understanding of domestic cricket.
Jay Shah denied all the statements of Justin Langer and Ricky Ponting
Jay Shah said that, “Neither I nor the BCCI have approached any former Australian player. The news running in some media channels is completely false. Finding the right coach for our national team is a careful and intensive process. We are focused on identifying individuals who have a deep understanding of the Indian cricket structure and have risen in the ranks.”
The BCCI secretary also said that having an understanding of Indian domestic cricket will be one of the key criteria for appointing the next coach. He said that this understanding will be important to take Team India to the next level. Let us tell you that both Ponting and Langer are involved in the Indian Premier League as head coaches of Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants respectively.
Recently Justin Langer and Ricky Ponting revealed that they had received an offer from BCCI to become the head coach. However, both of them refused to accept this offer. Now the BCCI secretary has rejected the claims of both the legends.
