Nitin Menon’s special connection with Fab 4 and his 100th test match

The second Test between New Zealand and Australia has started in Christchurch.

ICC Elite Panel umpire Nitin Menon is currently playing the role of field umpire in the second Test between New Zealand and Australia being played at Hagley Oval, Christchurch. Let us tell you, this is the 100th international test match of New Zealand’s brilliant players Kane Williamson and Tim Southee.

Apart from Kane Williamson, the Fab 4 of batting of this time includes India’s best batsman Virat Kohli, England’s experienced batsman Joe Root and Australia’s explosive batsman Steve Smith. The most important thing is that Nitin Menon has umpired in the 100th match of all these Fab 4.

Virat Kohli played his 100th Test match against Sri Lanka in Mohali in March 2022. Nitin Menon and Virendra Sharma were the field umpires of this match. Joe Root played his 100th Test match against India in Chennai in February 2021 and in this match also Nitin Menon was umpiring and Anil Choudhary was seen in this role along with him. Joe Root scored 218 runs in this match and was the first player to score a double century in his 100th Test.

Steve Smith played his 100th Test for Australia against England in July 2023. England had won this match by three wickets. Kumar Dharmasena officiated along with Nitin Menon.

Australia is in a very good position in the second test

The second Test between New Zealand and Australia has started in Christchurch. New Zealand, batting first in this match, scored 162 runs after losing all the wickets. On behalf of the team, Tom Latham played an inning of 38 runs while Matt Henry contributed 29 runs. Captain Tim Southee played an innings of 26 runs. In reply, Australia has scored 124 runs after losing four wickets by the end of the first day’s play.

Marnus Labuschagne is batting on 45* runs while Nathan Lyon is playing on 8* runs. So far, Matt Henry has taken three wickets for New Zealand while Ben Sears has taken one wicket. The second day of the game will be very important for both the teams.
