After winning the fourth test match against England, former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has given his comment on the recent statement of current India captain Rohit Sharma. Rohit had said after the Ranchi Test match that now only those people will get a place in the team who have the hunger to play Test cricket. Now Sunil Gavaskar also seems to agree with this statement of Rohit Sharma to a great extent.
During the press conference, Rohit Sharma had said, “Test cricket is the toughest format. And if you want success and want to excel in this tough format then you need that hunger. It is very important. We will only give chances to players who have that hunger. “You can tell just by looking at those who are not hungry.”

Whereas Sunil Gavaskar believes that whatever Rohit Sharma said is right. He agreed with the Indian captain’s claim that players aspiring to participate in Test cricket should be assessed on the basis of their commitment considering the success, fame and recognition they have achieved in Indian cricket.
During a conversation on Sports Tak, Sunil Gavaskar said, ‘He is absolutely right. You see those who want to play Test cricket. I’ve been saying this for years. Whatever the players are, they are because of Indian cricket. The stage he is at in his life and career is all because of Indian cricket. The money, fame and recognition he has received is because of Indian cricket. So you have to show some loyalty towards Indian cricket.”
He further said that, if you don’t show up for any reason and say ‘I won’t play’, then Rohit is absolutely right that those who have the hunger, who are willing to put in the effort, will be given more opportunities in the future. . If the selectors continue to have this attitude then it will be good for Indian cricket. We have seen many players being picked and selected, this should not happen.
