NZ vs PAK 2024: Does PCB not trust Shaheen? Big change in Pakistan’s captaincy before New Zealand series

Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand 2024, NZ vs PAK: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) today on January 8 Mohammad Rizwan (Mohammed Rizwan) has been appointed as the vice-captain of Pakistan’s T20I team.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently appointed Shaheen Shah Afridi to the T20I squad, and before that Shan Masood () after Babar Azam resigned from the captaincy in all three formats of the game. Shan Masood) was given the captaincy of the Test team.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Rizwan’s first assignment as deputy to Pakistan T20I captain Shaheen Afridi will be the upcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand, starting on January 12. Let us tell you, 31-year-old Rizwan has played a total of 85 T-20 international matches for the Pakistan cricket team so far, where he has scored 2,797 runs with the help of one century and 25 half-centuries.

As a wicketkeeper-batsman, Rizwan has taken a total of 41 catches in T20I cricket so far, and made 11 stumpings. According to the PCB, Mohammad Rizwan said on being appointed vice-captain: “It is a great honor for me to be named as the vice-captain of Pakistan’s T20I team. I am grateful to PCB for entrusting me with this responsibility. I look forward to working closely with the captain, the coaching staff and my teammates to contribute to the team’s success.”

Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar is very angry after seeing the playing XI with which Team India captain has entered in the first match of the series. Washington Sundar has been included as a spin all-rounder in the playing XI for the first Test, while both senior and experienced Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin have been dropped. After seeing this decision of the team management, Sunil Gavaskar scolded head coach Gautam Gambhir and stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah for this decision on live TV. Sunil Gavaskar took Jasprit Bumrah’s class Gavaskar said, ‘It was really surprising that R Ashwin and Jadeja did not play, they have taken 900 wickets in Test matches. He is not a bowler who can play only in Indian or subcontinental conditions. He is a very clever bowler, he is a very experienced bowler. Even if they don’t get you wickets, they will be able to slow down the scoring rate because of the cleverness with which they bowl. Gavaskar further said, ‘I felt that there are very long boundaries on these Australian wickets, so in such a situation you can include both of them in the playing XI. But this is a new management and new thinking. He has gone with Nitish Kumar Reddy, who is a promising player. There is no fault of his in this, but my only question is, is he completely prepared for Test cricket? Former legend, ‘He has not played many first class matches and so clearly, I think, this selection of Nitish is based on expectations and nothing less than that. Like all Indian cricket followers, I hope it is successful. The Indian team won the toss and batted first and the entire team was all out after scoring 150 runs.
