Let us tell you that on this day in 2006, Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene had made the highest partnership for any wicket in Test cricket history. In this partnership, Jayawardene scored 374 runs and Sangakkara scored 287 runs.

Both of them had a partnership of 624 runs for the third wicket in the first Test match played against South Africa at Sinhalese Sports Club ground in Colombo, which is a world record. No one has been able to break this partnership of both the players in Test cricket till now. It is worth mentioning that in this match, Sangakkara and Jayawardene had batted for a total of 157 overs in the Test match, which is a record in itself.

Sri Lanka won the match by an innings and 153 runs

On the other hand, if we give you information about this match, then while batting first, South Africa lost all its wickets at 169 runs in the first innings. After this, Sri Lanka scored 756 runs at the loss of 5 wickets after 185.1 overs in the first innings.
