Virender Sehwag became the first Indian batsman to score a triple century in the history of Test cricket.

Virender Sehwag’s Triple Century Against Pakistan in 2004: Former Indian player Virender Sehwag had scored a historic triple century in Pakistan 20 years ago on 29 March 2004. Today is a very special day for Indian cricket and its fans. Virender Sehwag created this history on the second day of the first match of the Test series against Pakistan. That test match played between India and Pakistan in Multan is remembered for the amazing batting of Virender Sehwag. Virender Sehwag also became the first Indian batsman to score a triple century in the history of Test cricket.

Virender Sehwag had left Gavaskar, VVS Laxman and Tendulkar behind.

In the first match of the three-match Test series against Pakistan, Rahul Dravid took over the captaincy in place of Sourav Ganguly. Rahul Dravid had decided to bat first after winning the toss against Pakistan. India had scored 356 runs at the loss of 2 wickets on the first day.

Virender Sehwag was unbeaten on 228 runs. Everyone expected that Virender Sehwag would make his innings even bigger, and that is exactly what happened. Virender Sehwag had completed a triple century by hitting a six on the ball of Saqlain Mushtaq on the second day. Virender Sehwag had left behind Sunil Gavaskar (236), Sachin Tendulkar (241*) and VVS Laxman (281).

Virender Sehwag batted in the field for 531 minutes

Virender Sehwag had played an innings of 309 runs against Pakistan with the help of 39 fours and 6 sixes in 375 balls. Virender Sehwag batted in the field for 531 minutes. Rahul Dravid then declared India’s first innings at 675-5. Sachin Tendulkar was not out on 194*. This decision of Rahul Dravid also attracted a lot of discussion. The Indian team had won that match by one inning and 52 runs.

Scored second triple century in Test against South Africa

Virender Sehwag broke his own record by scoring 319 runs against South Africa on 29 March 2008. Sehwag became the batsman who played the biggest innings for India in Tests.

Virender Sehwag is included in this special list along with Sir Don Bradman.

After scoring triple centuries twice in Test cricket for India, Virender Sehwag is included in the elite triple century club along with Sir Don Bradman and Brian Lara. Virender Sehwag has scored 8,586 runs in 104 matches at an average of 49.34 in his Test career. Which includes 23 centuries, 6 double centuries, 2 triple centuries and 32 half-centuries.
