On this day 11 years ago, i.e. on 23 June 2013, the Indian team won the Champions Trophy. They defeated England by five runs in the rain-interrupted final match. In this match, all the players from the Indian team performed very well.

Not only this, Mahendra Singh Dhoni became the first captain to win all the ICC trophies. This final match was played at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham. Due to rain, this match was played in 20-20 overs in which India batted first and scored 129 runs losing 7 wickets. Virat Kohli played an important innings of 43 runs while batting brilliantly for India.

In that match, Ishant Sharma proved to be the most expensive bowler from India’s side but he got his team back in the match by taking the wickets of Ravi Bopara and Eoin Morgan at crucial times. England needed 14 runs to win in the last over and Ravichandran Ashwin bowled this over from India’s side. Ravichandran Ashwin’s brilliant over put the match in India’s bag.

After the Champions Trophy 2013, India has not won the trophy of any ICC event even once

Let us tell you, after the Champions Trophy 2013, India has not won the trophy of any ICC event even once. In the last 11 years, India has participated in 10 ICC events but they have not won the trophy of this important tournament even once. India had confirmed their place in the final of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. However, they had to face defeat against Australia in the final.

Currently, the Indian team is participating in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and they would definitely like to win this important tournament. The best thing for India in this tournament is that all their players are in very good form. If India has to make it to the semi-finals of this great tournament, then they will have to win their last Super 8 match.
